William McCrackan
William McCrackan, 57, is a long-time New Yorker who has recently become a Christian Scientist and, as a successful writer and businessman, has many friends in the city’s literary circles. He met with Twain on several occasions and urged him to correct statements about Eddy that he felt were slanderous. Twain brushed him aside and joked that McCrackan was “the whitest man I ever met.”

Victor Garber or James Cromwell. The eyes really stand out on him.
Kevin Kline
I’d say John Lithgow
How about Alec Baldwin?
Gordon Pinsent might be better suited to this role.
Eric Peterson is a consideration.
Definitely Kevin Kline

William Hurt or Bill Pullman would be good.
Richard Dreyfuss, hands down
Bill Murray
Patrick Stewart
This is a job for Edward Herrman.
James Spader – hard to get whiter than him. lol
Looks like Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek)
Stanley Tucci, Kevin Kline (cuz he can play anything), Bill Pullman, William Hurt, Kurt Russell w blond hair
Victor Garber, Ben Kingsley, or Robert Duvall, would project the spiritual and moral authority needed to take a stand for what is right and take it to the battlefield, as William McCracken apparently did.
Colm Feore
Comedic actor Matt Walsh is a dead ringer.

I agree Brent Spiner loooks like him, and since Brent is so versatile I am sure he would be very good in the role.
I still think that Robert Duvall looks like this guy. On the other hand Brent Spiner might be very good as well.
Tim Robbins, David Strathairn, Peter Coyote, or Paul Ben-Victor
God there are a lot of great suggestions, initially John Cleese jumped out at me but John Lithgow is a great actor who I think probably would be great with a time period piece too.
allan alda. or if trying to stay in the general age vicinity, perhaps ben kingsly
Colm Feore
John O’Hurley
